GTA clone, Saints Row, received accolades when released on the Xbox 360 so it was little surprise that the inevitable sequel was announced. Unfortunately the groan of gamers could be heard around the world when it was revealed today that Saints Row 2 has been pushed back to October. Sources say the reason for the push is to give the developers enough time to tweak it and essentially make it better.
Bob Aniello, THQ's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, explained it with the following statement, "Product quality is a huge driver of a game's success and this move allows us to polish the game. The game is done, it's about polish. There is a bigger trend within the industry to build big marketing events within a bigger time window. This allows us to lead up to the holiday timeframe," he added.
It could also have something to do with runaway success that is GTA IV and THQ not wanting to release a similar game anytime soon until the hype dies down. Maybe they should wait until Xmas next year?
