PlayTV Receives Australian Date

PlayTV. What is PlayTV I hear you ask? For the uninitiated, PlayTV is the latest offereing from Sony to bring integration into everyone's face. No really, it's the following," PlayTV is a twin-channel DVB-T tuner peripheral with digital video recorder (DVR) software which allows users to record television programs to the PlayStation 3 hard drive for later viewing." So in essence, it's a device connected to your TV and whatever you record using it will be stored on your PS3 hard drive and can be later transferred to your PSP to watch on the go. People with Foxtel IQ or another PVR will know where I'm coming from. One of the few drawbacks at present is that you won't be able to play a PS3 game and record live TV at the same time but the boffins over at Sony are currently working on a solution for that as we speak. No release price as yet but we can confirm it's apparently below the magical $200 mark so more than likely $199.95 and also it's been slated for release sometime this year during Q4 no doubt to coincide with the jolly fat man.
