In a move that all PS3 owners have been screaming for with each update, Sony have finally announced plans for gamers to be able to access the XMB (Xross Media Bar) on the PS3 when playing a game ala Xbox 360 owners who can access their menu blades at any point in any game, offline or online. This can be used to change settings and more importantly contact friends on your list to join you in games, a feature which is severely lacking from the PS3 thus far. It will be the 2.4 firmware update that will contain the functionality for the PS3 but as yet there is no specific date the release of the update.
