Rumours have begun to surface of a Wiimote like controller for the Xbox 360. The controller at this point is just speculation but it already has a codename that being "Newton." Apparently, Microsoft have been working on a possible controller since August '07 and what started as mere hearsay is gaining momentum with the news that 8bit Joystick managed to steal a few more tidbits of information. The author of the post goes by the name of "Jake" and has confirmed that a development kit and protype of the controller is out in the wild. To add more fuel to the fires of speculation is the news that Microsoft have also applied for certain patents to incorporate motion technology from Gyration. Gyration happens to also be the one and the same company that developed the motion technology for the Nintendo Wiimote.
That's all the news at hand for now but industry insiders seem to believe that an announcement at E3 might be on the cards. We'll see then.
