Mario and Sonic: a Winning Combination

Sales figures released today show that Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games has broken through the 5 million barrier in global sales on the Nintendo Wii. This is proving what a lot pundits already knew that putting together in one game two of the most recognised characters in modern day video gaming will lead to record sales!! The game reached the massive milestone in just 3 short months showing that Sega still has the goods when it comes to developing massive hits.

Presdient and COO of Sega America, Simon Jeffery, had this to say, "With adored icons and fun game play, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games has shot to the top of the sales charts and is clearly resonating with the growing audience of casual gamers that want an engaging and accessible gaming experience".

  1. You know it was all Sonic's doing. Mario has no selling power at all /sarcasm.

Its pretty sad that this could end up being SEGA's biggest selling title, EVER.  I mean c'mon...so much more awesome games out there...*sigh*
