If you're not feeling nostalgic already with the news that Metal Slug is DS bound well then maybe this one will kake you misty eyed. Taito is going to be releasing Space Invaders Extreme on the Nintendo DS. Now, normally we laugh at anything with the word "extreme" in the title but at second glance, this doesn't appear to be just another rehashed port. The release in is commermoration of the 30th anniversary of the classic arcade game. (Has it been that long already?) The concept hasn't been changed in the slightest but it's the nifty way that everything has received an overhaul that makes this game shine. For example the graphics, they are leaps ahead of what a lot of people were expecting from this Great colours that always keep your attention without making it loop cheap or garish. The background itself is a contant motion but it doesn't act as a distraction but adds to the upgrade this game has received. The music is great, awesome dance tracks that won't have you turning the volume down. This time round, you also get power ups when you shoot aliens of the same colour. They drop a capsule and depending what colour you nab determines what abilities you receive. It's a nice touch that will add longevity to the title. Just check out the video below for some gameplay!
