HD No More for Microsoft

In a move that surprises no one, Microsoft has decided to pull their support for HD-DVD and cut the price on their Hd-DVD add-on player. It gets slashed to $49.95...that's a massive price drop and a great time to get into the HD era of home entertainment. If you have no desire to buy a PS3 solely for it's Blu-Ray player, then this is the time for 360 owners to buy this peripheral. There's also a swag load of movies you can buy from any Jb Hi-Fi store.

In addition to this, Microsoft Reps had this to say as well, "As we stated earlier, we do not believe this decision will have any material impact on the Xbox 360 platform or our position in the marketplace," HD DVD is one of the several ways we offer a high definition experience to consumers and we will continue to give consumers the choice to enjoy digital distribution of high definition movies and TV shows directly to their living room, along with playback of the DVD movies they already own."

The add-on gives you a great bargain with an Xbox360 media remote thrown in as well as a USB 2.0 cable and a copy of King Kong on HD-DVD.
