One of the titles at GDC being shown off by Nintendo was Kung Fu Panda based on the upcoming movie from Dreamworks Studios on the Nintendo DS. This game is being developed by Vicarious Visons who have had several successes on the handheld ranging from the Tony Hawk series to the Spiderman franchise. The game is a platformer in the side scrolling style that we're all accustomed to where the touch screen is used for basically all the moves you have at your disposal. The main protagonist of the game, Po the Panda, is very fluidly animated as he rolled, grappled and generally kicked ass as the tutorial level played out. The touch screen comes in handy when planning to use a long range weapon as it shows you the trajectory of your intended missile and the game pauses as you do this so you can hit victims with pinpoint accuracy.
This looks like another title that may look like to break the mold of appalling titles that cross over to consoles and handheld from movies. Look to hear more from this one later on in the year as the movie gears up for its release.
